Swedish immigration to America

I don't think there is a project in relations to this, but maybe there should be.

1.3 million Swedes left Sweden, many never to be heard of again. Where did they go? What happened to their family back in Sweden?

I'd love to tag the people in my tree that emigrated to America never to be heard or seen of again. Perhaps there are American descendants trying to find their Swedish roots but don't have enough information to find out more just as much as there are Swedish cousins wanting to find out what happened to these relatives? I think it could be of great help if they could be found connected to a project like this.

Comments? Ideas? Suggestions?

There is a category structure for Swedish immigration to America.

If you're interested in Nya Sverige, see the category & Google doc for New Sweden Forefathers.  I identified 48 forefathers with Wikitree profiles, out of the 127 named by the Swedish Colonial Society.  Would love help finding or creating the rest, and there's lots of work to do on last names at birth, primary sources, etc.  Tusen tack!

Thanks, thought that there should be some sort of category already, but as usual couldn't find it. I've added the closest relatives that went missing in Minnesota. I'll add other more distant relatives to the list as I come by them.

I don't mind helping, but I don't think I will be much help when it comes to emigration during the 1600's. Family records for this era is kind of hard to come by and even harder to interpret the handwriting. I can see there's some questions regarding the correct spelling of some surnames. How do you go about finding this out? Educated guesses? Joransson is probably Göransson, that's the most common spelling, though phonetically it was probably Jöransson way back when.
No worries, I'm sure other people will see this message too.
