A list of searchable cousin surnames?

Often when I get a match on gedmatch or 23andme, they have very little paper genealogy to go by. Sometimes, I can find their surname or one of the few surnames they have researched amoung my many wikitree cousins. However, doing so right now is a bit by random chance.

I really like the familylist and it's been very helpful, but it would also be useful to go "horizontal" as well and have an easy way to search cousin surnames, up to a limit of course.

Hi Russ, Thanks for joining our one world family tree.

Sort of along the same line, I send my list of Surnames to my 23andme matches.  I then ask them if any of those surnames are also on their family tree.  Here is my list of Surnames:  http://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Cooper-1/10 and here is your list of Surnames: http://www.wikitree.com/treewidget/Dill-925/10

In each generation, the new maternal surname is in a larger font. After the introduction of the new surname, the more recent generations are in smaller print. Your cousin matches on 23andme can be on any of these surnames, including the question marks.

Hi, thanks for your response. As I mentioned, I already know how to use the family list and it is very helpful, but it doesn't help me with people who only list a few surnames.

Take Margaret (Lincoln) Rutledge:

http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Lincoln-2644

They are a cousin as I'm not directly descendant from them. The surname Rutledge does not appear in my familylist or surname list. Additionally, their children's surnames, like Haskins, do not appear in my familylist or surname list. But I have many relatives with the surnames Rutledge and Haskins. If I were to encounter a descendant of Margaret (Lincoln) Rutledge, they may only list the surnames Rutledge and Haskins.
