Have you seen that GEDmatch has changed Family Finder kit numbers?

GEDmatch is now using T followed by a random number for a GEDmatch ID of a Family Finder user.  If you tested with Family Finder then please login to your DNA Tests page in WikiTree and change your old GEDmatch ID to your new GEDmatch ID.  Old Family Finder GEDmatch IDs begin with F and are followed by the user's Family Tree DNA kit number.

Thanks Peter! I was on last night and they hadn't done it yet. Can't WAIT to go back and recreate all my spreadsheets with the right info. :-) Mags
Should we add our new ID but not delete the old ID so we will be able to do some cross-referencing for a while?
The old one is almost always F plus the FTDNA kit number, so I recommend deleting the old one.
Now you have to change all the DNA source references in your profiles, Peter. I saw that you have FTDNA Family Finder referenced there ;-)

If you used wiki templates for this it would have been possible to

  1. Track all places gedmatch id was used
  2. Changed just the template ==> you got the new id
  3. Until everyone has moved over to the new ID you could in the template select to displayed both old and new id....
We must start using wiki templates for more things than project logos.....
Wouldn't that be an overkill, Magnus? Yes, the incident from FTDNA is now causing everyone a lot of additional, unwanted work but it's not that this happens on a regular basis.

If we build a template for each Gedmatch kit no then we're soon ending up with thousands, if not hundred thousand templates. That's overkill for me.

A template makes sense when it's addressing a large number of profiles, like eg German_Roots

Gedmatch handled inside Wikitree is excellent today with a dedicated field BUT if you start use it in free text you get problems to find it and change it...

No A template is good when its used just 10 times is my experience

Example change I did today

Looks like Family Search new wiki upgrade doesn't need login

==> I took away the text needs login
on Template:SPC_FamilySearchSwedParish
used today at Whatlinkshere/Template:SPC_FamilySearchSwedParish

The history of this template

19 feb 2016 created
1 mar 2016 adding also the link to Family Search about Sweden as I found this as an excellent source learn more about genealogy in  Sweden

Today took away text saying you need login....

Things change ==> you need a way of working that can handle that.... Wikipedia has learned the lesson

The wiki article about Duisburg has 176 transcluded templates
