Who is, Jane (Holland-34) Molyneux, listed as daughter of Robert (Holand-85)?  If she is not the daughter of Robert (Holand-85) should she be disconnected from him as daughter?

Royal Ancestry III, page 296; Robert de (Holand-85) and wife Elizabeth _____ had four sons, Robert, Thomas, Gilbert, and John, Knt., and one possible daughter Margaret.

Thank you for your help :-)

Assuming we're talking about Holland-431...

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/lancs/vol3/pp66-74

The pedigree in this visitation says she's Joan de Holland (of Euxton)

http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/lancs/vol6/pp17-23

Joan of Euxton was the daughter of Robert. de Holland son of William de Holland of Euxton, who I think is Holand-74. -74 has a bunch of Richardson references so that's prob. easy to cite/fix. Hope this helps!

Also, I don't think she was a Baroness since her husband wasn't a peer - see http://www.british-history.ac.uk/vch/lancs/vol3/pp66-74#fnn24 but the Duchy of Lancashire was a county palatine so maybe a feudal one of some kind to the Duke...

I think the problem however is that the Robert Holand who married Margaret Hetton (Heton, Heyton, Hayton) is being equated to Robert Holand, 2nd lord Holand (son of Robert Holand and Maud Zouche, brother of Thomas Holand , earl of Kent).  This is in print so the error is understandable.  I am pretty sure though these are separate men from separate families. (I’m at work, this needs more research to clarify).

Cybergata.com shows her as the daughter of Robert de Holand (1312-1372)  (son of Robert de Holand and Maud la Zouche) and Margaret Heyton.  References include:  Nellie Zada Rice, History, Genealogical and Biographical, of the Molyneux Families, Published 1904, C. W. Bardeen; and Sir William Dugdale, Knight, The Visitation of the County Palatine of Lancaster, Made in the Year 1664-5, Part II, Published 1872. Printed for the Chetham Society, Lancashire (England).  It also notes:

  • Molyneux Family of Sefton Pedigree from Sefton: A Descriptive and Historical Account, pp. xii-xiv calls her Jane Holland of Enkeston
  • Visitation of Lancashire by Sir William Dugdale, Vol. II,  1665-5, Molineux of Sefton pedigree, p.204-205
Jim Weber, who follows the Gen-Medieval postings (see here:  http://wc.rootsweb.ancestry.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?op=GET&db=jweber&id=I06221 ), shows her as the daughter of Robert de Holand (same as Cybergata) and Elizabeth d'Avesnes.  A post-it on Jim's site by Nancy Lopez states, "Sir William's 2nd wife was lady Margaret, the widow of Sir Robert Holand of Enkeston, Knight (brother to Sir Thomas Holand, of Bushell, Knight of the Garter) and daughter and heir of Sir Alan Heyton, of Bushell, Knight. ~ Collins's The English Baronetage, Vol. I pp. 145-146."
