I understand that Rebecca Turnmire Chester was a Cherokee Indian. How do I research for find death certificate?

What does it say about her the census records you find ? Where is the Isaac Family Cemetery ? By studying the people buried around her, you may find out more about her ancestry.

Rebecca Turnmire Chester is my great great grandmother. Nope, no Indian blood. It was a family whisper until we started actually doing research. Her heritage was Irish and German. She is buried with other family members in the Isaac family cemetery. Although I have no clue why her husband wasn’t buried with or near her. His grave is in the Chester family cemetery in Colletsville.

I found her death certificate. It says she was the daughter of "Turnmire" and "Woods" . She was born in Burke County, NC as well as her parents.

You can visit the National Archives (NARA). They keep records of accepted Indian names.

Her parents are David Turnmire and Elizabeth Woods.
