On the EDIT side of the biography of John Stewart's profile, there is a section

==SOURCE==

put in there where you found the information about John Stewart so someone else can find it (-:

Karen,

You show that John was born in 1807 in Killearn, Stirlingshire, Scotland.

So select the edit tab and
The first line of the bio should be:

John Stewart was born in 1807 in Killearn, Stirlingshire, Scotland.<ref>List the source here what ever you have </ref>

Using the ref tags will place the material at the bottom of the profile page under the sources section - the line <references /> line is the instruction to the system to place the material between <ref> and </ref> here.

I removed the duplicate material in the profile so it should be a little easier to work with.

Thanks, I also followed the advice of on the right handside edit the profile, then go into it.

I have no idea if just adding Scotlands People is enough.  I know the facts,

Everything seems so clunkie and hard to manouvre around, or go back or forward or find anything.

Mmmpmmm

Thanks for your help everyone.
Thanks Phil, now I see what you mean. xx

Karen I put the source in the right place and in the right format. You are right that there should be more information about what document from the Scotlands People web sit the information came from but I can not help with that , sorry.

Thanks Dale, I see what you have done, hopefully I am on the right track now.  I can see I will have to take time out to watch the video etc.

So with my pre-1700 I actually uploaded the certificates, but I didn't need to do that, which means I still have to go back into their profiles and fix that up.  Crikey
Be careful with uploading certificates Karen. The images are often copyrighted even if the content isn't. The ones from the GRO are copyrighted images and I can't see Scotland's People not doing the same. The fine print probably says that they are for personal use only & can't be published. Adding them here is publishing them.
But in the source you could still put something like "Birth Certificate for John Stewart: Scotland's People: Accessed on 4/12/2016." and that would give others at least an idea of what you looked at. I am sure there are others who can write better source citations than I can from scratch but every little bit helps. :)
Thank you that is a good tip.  I have got the gist of what I should be doing now xx
Thanks Rosemary, I didn't know that.  I will remove them and

put the resource comment.
