Looks they married by the 1940 census. Was hoping to find their marriage record. Might name his parents. Have you ever tried to track down his death certificate?
emmetts father's name is Ebenezer. Ebenezer married matilda weathersby. both were found in John Kelley house hold in alabama with annie mae lovering kelley (daughter) how ever have never been able to find a census or anything with emmett listed don't know ebenezer's parents names just said they were from mass.

I found Ebenezer and Matilda in the 1880 and 1910 censuses. Of course Emmett isn't in either because a) he was born after 1880 and b) he was married by 1910.

Great find David. Suggests also looking under the spelling Loving for other records. And reminds us that record keepers (or indexing systems) are imperfect.
I have tried a zillion search approaches on the 1900 census with no success. Emmett. Foy. E F. Any Love* in Miller co GA. Where the heck is he??
Here's another record where he's recorded as Lovingg. Death of another child in 1923

Thanks, I only knew of 4 children = 3 buried at mother's home in boykin, ga

plus my mother this seems to be another
