I am a descendant of Calvin and Sophronia Howe.  Wondering if he was in the Revolutionary War. since he was of an eligible age.

I am a descendant of his brother, Hezekiah. I think that there were only three family members that were Rev. War vets: Jaazaniah (Sr) who was named after his father, Hezekiah, the only Jaazaniah and Anna (Lyon) Howe birth listed in Deerfield Vital Records and Jaazaniah Jr.

He would have been eight years old at the time of the Declaration of Independence, and 15 at the end of the war in 1783.

I think Calvin was probably too young.

But for future reference you can check someone's service on the DAR Website and SAR Website. These both have databases of "Patriots" who have been recognized by the societies. Although there are probably ancestors who have never been recognized for their service.

I went ahead and looked up the name on the DAR website (I've been doing a lot of that lately anyway), and no hits from DAR.

I searched for Calvin using your dates in Fold3.com and found several records in the War of 1812.  However, this Calvin would have been quite old for service at that time.  There are very many Howe's so more information is needed to develop the story.
