Jacob Bancks or Banks was a British MP of Swedish origin. He married Mary Tregonwell d of http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Tregonwell-11  He became the owner of Milton Abbas.

The H of Parliament  History says

 b. 22 Aug. 1662, 2nd s. of Lars Bengtsson Banck of Stockholm, Sweden by his w. Kristina Barckman.  m. 1696, Mary, da. and h. of John Tregonwell of Milton Abbas, wid. of Francis Luttrell*, 2s.  kntd. 6 or 7 Dec. 1698 http://www.historyofparliamentonline.org/volume/1690-1715/member/banks-jacob-1662-1724

Their source was Hutchins (History and Antiquities of Dorset) and info. from Mr Bengt Nilsson. The English side appear's  accurate. (the parish records record their deaths and there is a huge memorial  with dates in Milton Abbey)

I haven't the resources or knowledge to check the Swedish birth date or parentage.  The biography says that his father was supervisor at the 'packhouse'.  What was that? I'm sure that my google results of flat pack timber houses and ikea aren't quite right!

packhouse looks like to do business abroad you need to have "packhus" so it looks like he was an inspector on a "packhus"

Thank you for your quick response,  the google translation of The Swedish Dictionary of National Biography shows that it  has the same basic data  so I'll go with that and cite both sources. I don't understand the reference to P Hahn who seems to have been a Bishop but I don't have to include that.

The trove catalogue includes some intriguing titles; one obviously to do with Sweden, the other concerning the South Sea Bubble  but I probably won't be researching this profile in that much detail

Discipel feels like old Swedish for student. So he was a student for

avhänt old swedish for take ==> it looks like he took books of another student "han skulle ha avhänt en kamrat böcker"

P. Hahn could be Petrus O Hahn about him in Swedish on page 22 in this paper
