It looks like someone had TERRIBLE hand writing. Sarah and Geo. E. Jenks married and had many kids including Bertha May Jenks in IA. However, the records of Sarah and Geo. E. Jenks include no less than 4 different version of her last name. It is a bit of a train record from what I can tell.

Note that is in conflict with records for Sarah's father. Her father is listed in the marriage of Geo. E. Jenks to Sarah as John Weir. I suspect that Geo. Jenks is the one responsible for the troublesome records based on the assumption that he is likely the person filling out the records.

Though so far, I haven't been able to pull up conclusive matches for John Weir to Sarah Weir of Iowa.

If you enlarge this image of Sarah Ware's name at 60 61, it looks like Ware to me when she was 15 years old. The entry immediately above her is for Frank Ware, stepson age 23. Sarah Ware is a stepdaughter.
Thanks. It looks like there was a John Ware in the Webster, Iowa area in the right time frame. Frustratingly, there's a US Census which has John Weare and his family that seems to be a relatively decent match.
I have ancestors who changed the spelling of the last name from Kuhns to Koons. Maybe your Ware or Weare people did something similar.
Okay. I think I figured out what happened. FamilySearch had an existing profile linked with the record of Sarah Ware and Frank Ware in the household of Philliph Howley and Mary "Polly" Rhudy. Mary was linked to John Ware, and they had a number of children which included Sarah Saphrona Ware.

I think that George Jenks was inconsistent about his reporting of the details of Sarah and her family. I suspect that this is for less than honorable reasons; he married a 16 year old when he was 27. Though it could just be a combination of "Don't know, don't care" and bad handwriting or illiteracy. In any case, Mary Welles appears to be a red herring and seems likely to be the same person as Mary Rhudy. In anycase, it looks like that opened up a whole bunch of the family tree from Sarah Saphrona Ware on back.

Do you think that this is her husband, buried in the same cemetery?

Cherokee County, Iowa would seem likely. The birthdates are within a year of each other, and Geo Jenks has a demonstrated inconsistency in filling out paperwork, so it isn't inconceivable that his gravestone would have a typo.

Also, the fact that the FindAGrave memorial is being contributed to by van Valkenburgs is promising. His mother was apparently Sarah van Valkenburg whose spouse was Henry L. Jenks.

I did a little work on this profile and listed some information. I did it because I was looking for a tie to some Jenks in Louisiana that I have some slight knowledge of.

Feel free to change anything you like or remove anything. :) I mostly did it because I am nosy and meddlesome by nature.
