Could John Hurveds parents be Hurford

I have been working on the Hurved/Hurvid family tree based in Devon, England for some time and have started adding it to wikitree. The earliest Hurved/Hurvid I can find is John Hurved abt 1762 to 1827 http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Hurved-126 and managed to track just about all other hurveds and hurvids as ancestors of him, but the question remains who are his parents

I think his name could be a misspelling of another name such as Hurford i.e http://ukga.org/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?action=ViewRec&DB=12&bookID=111&page=70&submit=Submit but does anyone have any idea how I could establish a link

Since this is a secondary source, I would get to the original record listed here and look at the spellings of the surname in this source. Go backward and forward a couple hundred years. Surname variations for one name can change in different locations.
It looks like you have One Name Study to do to solve this problem (-:
I was thinking about joining the One Name Guild but havent yet applied.

It seems close enough to be a variant surname. Have you looked in the One Name Guild resources?
