Can anyone help with early 18th century records for Huntington, Suffolk County, Long Island

There are two Samuel Teed's who need to be merged, (Teed-191 and Teed-199)  but first I am trying to sort out his wife. One shows Hannah Conklin and the other Hannah Messenger. This mirrors the online family trees which are also split on the issue. Finding an actual marriage record would be very helpful. Torrey ends at 1700. First Church of Huntington has good online records but they don't start til 1723. I think that Samuel's wedding falls into the cracks between these two collections. Does anyone know of any record collection which might fill this gap?

FamilySearch Wiki about Suffolk County; you may find some useful links there.
Thank you Rosemary.

But I haven't had any luck with the Family Search collections. Ancestry's collections haven't helped either.

Still searching!

Hi John,

Unfortunately the newspapers start about a century too late to help me here! Kitty's page has some interesting links. I think I found some of Samuel's grandchildren in Orange County.

But I am still looking for the early marriages. Any lists I have found so far don't have Samuel listed.

Thanks for the leads!

Have you tried looking in the on line Hathi Trust Digital Library at: https://www.hathitrust.org/

They have many pre 1923 books digitized and you can them read on line or download full pdf copies for many of them. Another source is GoogleBooks which also has many historic and genealogy related books.

At the HathiTrust site here's on book on Huntington town records such as land deeds from 1600's see page 15 in:

https://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=loc.ark:/13960/t3tt4tf6h;view=1up;seq=23

In GoogleBooks there is a book on historic Huntington records and the name John Teed from the 1600's is found several times see: https://books.google.com/books?id=xtM4AQAAMAAJ&dq=huntington%20long%20island&pg=PA288#v=onepage&q=teed&f=false

Not sure if these results are useful but searching these sites for books may uncover new info or leads for you. Good luck.

Thanks Stephen, for these links. Still looking for the marriage records, but already found a book (quite accidentally) through the Hathi Trust for a Loyalist family I am researching! It appears to be an excellent resource.

I live nearby and Huntington has an excellent genealogy collection.  HOWEVER - it has been closed for several years pending renovations to library buildings or some such nonsense.  It was supposed to be finished last summer, but we are still waiting to get in there.  I am sure I am not the only one waiting patiently for them to re-open.

Well that would certainly be one reason why I can't find these records. Thanks for the update.
