Everything in the record is correct. He died of black lung in 1956. My dad is Ernest Jenkins, Jr.  Though he's a Jr. he is not the first born son, kinda funny. Ernest Sr. married Thelma Spradling and had lots of kids. Margaret who died as an infant, Bennie and Buddy (identical twins) Buddy died young at 27. Robert, Gertrude, Rushie, Ernest Jr, Rosetta, Geraldine, Wildvon (died as infant), James Ray, William and Carl (twins Carl died young child). I think I've remembered all my of them though my name spelling is based on how my family says it and the deaths are as I've been told.  Ernie, my dad was the shoe shine boy in Garret in 50's.  Ernie and Robert both served in Vietnam. I don't remember if it was Robert or my dad who wrote home saying "the army is the eating-est bunch of people you ever did see; I swear they eat 3 times a day!"

When Ernest Sr. died Robert took the youngest of the kids from Garrett to Flat Gap to live with Henry and Sarah Spriggs. Sarah was Ernest Sr. sister. Thelma went to prison for some reason and had another child while locked up. The child was taken by the state and adopted. He found us about 25 years ago. His name is Mark Judd.

My dad, Rosetta, Geraldine, Will and Mark (Judd) are still living.  I hope this helps     Richard Jenkins (auction614@me.com)
