US Federal Census: Tennessee, Washington County 1860 ;

1860 census list both Thomas Tipton and Minerva living in the same household with an Edward, Catharine, John, Abner and Martha L.

Just before the 1860 Cesus, Thomas and Manerva Moore (Tipton) were married on 5 Jul 1858 according to Washington County, Tennesse Marriage archives.

Abt. 1863 Thomas and Manerva had a son, William B. Tipton in Washington County, Tennessee. William B. Tipton died April 1922, according to Knox County, Tennessee Death Records for Wm B. Tipton. Wm B. Tipton's death records list Thomas and Manerva as his parents and his birthplace as Washington County, Tennessee.

William B. Tipton married Bettie Givens of Blount County, Tennessee and they had several children. 1900 Census for Knox County, TN confirms the household and the birth of one Eva Tipton born 1898.

Eva Tipton married Noah Miller abt.1914 and they had one daughter, Augusta Miller born 13 Feb 1920-2015. Noah Miller died just months before Augusta was born and Eva died 24 DEC 1921 leaving Augusta to be raised by Eva's parents William B. and Bettie Givins Tipton.

Augusta Miller married Robert James Hembree and together they had many offspring. I am Augusta's grandson.

Does your Thomas Tipton that married Manerva,Have a middle name or

Initial.Do you have birth date Thomas Tipton.

Thank You for asking.

According to U.S. Federal Census for Washington County :1860 ; Thomas Tipton est. birth: 1828.

Looking at photo copy of marriage Certfificate from Washington County Tennesse dated 5 July 1858, it appears there MAY be an "A" that has been covered over by the "T" in Tipton.  Ref: Marriage Cert. Thomas Tipton and Minerva Moore Washington County Tennessee.

Also, the 1860 Census show kids living in the household that are not Manerva Moore's biological children: Edward 11, Catharine 6, John 5, Abner 10, Martha L. 4.

Could this be the kids from Thomas Tipton and Sarah Bailey of North Carolina? 1850 Census for North Carolina show Thomas, Sarah and Edward 1 together. If so, is this Thomas Tipton the son of Jacob Tipton and Elithabeth Randolph? Jacob Tipton is the son of Maj. Johnathon Tipton III the brother of Col. Jon Tipton.

Thomas Tipton died in the mid 1860's.

Manerva Tipton remarried to a Jasper Marion Henbry on 19 Aug 1867 in Sevier County Tennessee. The 1900 Census confirms this by showing a John Hembree in the household of William B. Tipton and defining John as "brother" to the head of household.

Thank You for the interest and help. I ask, what is your thoughts of this connection for Thomas Tipton to Manerva Moore that I have discovered recently.

1850 Yancy County, North Carolina Census Show a Thomas Tipton -27, married to a Sarah(Bailey) Tipton -28 with a 1 -year- old child Edward Tipton.

According to what I can find from other gen. research Sarah Tipton died abt.1856 location unknown and unable to confirm after having a total of 5 children with Thomas Tipton.

The possible link between THIS Thomas and Manerva Moore is the 1860 Washington County Tennessee Census. This census list Thomas Tipton -32, Manerva -21, Edward-11 (same age), Catharine -6, John -5, Abner -10 and Martha L. -4. The ages of the children would also confirm the 1856 death of Sarah and suggest Thomas married Manerva Moore after Sarah died.

If this is the Thomas Tipton that married Manerva Moore, Is he the son of Jacob Tipton and Elizabeth Randolph as some gen. researchers have suggested?
