Well, I think I'm about to jump in with both feet again. I had to take a 3 month break.  I'd come in and check posts and stuff but not adding anything earth shattering.

I found a cousin here who had made a post in the G2G about how to fix an error. We descend from 2 Bullard Brothers.  We started emailing and I was invited to look at one of his trees at ancestry where he had Robert and Mary Harrison Malone.  Another connection. He descends from  one daughter, me from another.  But what really made my heart pump is my Bullard descendant married the Malone descendant and were my ggps.

Then I get an email via WT private email system asking about my Nancy Witt Allen. she is my 3rd ggm, and two of her daughters married Morton brothers. She gave me the next step back on Nancy Witt and Zachariah Allen.

Another WT'er researching Thornton's contacted me.  So I guess the ancestors were saying Vacation is Over!

I had to check on something on Jane Peden-4 and found that her supposed husband James Morton was an orphaned profile. I snagged him. and removed Jane as his wife. He was probably married to A Jane Peden, but not THAT Jane Peden. The math just doesn't add up to her being married to him.

I'll be continuing on the World Disaster Projects working on the Tri-State tornado victims, Arkansas Census and Civil War, Black Sheep Projects and finding whatever other trouble I can get into.

Fun with wood. Here is what I've been doing this week. The butterfly is for my next-door-neighbor girl. We made a dragon for her brother. The parrot is already gone.

They have a string on them so you can make them fly.

Thank You for starting the Chat this weekend Michael, I am going to keep it kind of short because I am not only having computer problems that I can do nothing about until after Wednesday but I am fighting a cold. It is raining here but not too much and it is warm so the weather is not too bad. I discovered a couple of new projects to do on the camper so most weekends, and even some weekdays, I am going to be busy on them but I still hope to do some work on WikiTree. I do hope to replace my computer sometime in the next couple of months to make life easier for all of my online activities.

Anne B. I just have a cold from the changing weather, daytime highs in the 70's and lows at night in the 40's.The problem with the computer is the keyboard, but it is a laptop, so.........

Michael, My "camping" these days is a 38' 2 bedroom 1 bath travel trailer with a full kitchen heat and AC along with TV and at least some internet access. but it is nice to sit on the deck and visit with a lot of people who walk or drive their golf carts down out "road".

Need to mow really bad. The snow here in Denver has kept me from mowing but also made the grass grow really well. My son also has a track meet at Stutler Bowl (he'll do the hurdling events). Found a new line of 3rd cousins so I'll be doing some WikiTree updates as well. Biggest thing is healing my dog up after a scrape with a raccoon. No stitches, but some muzzle scratches (don't think that raccoon will come by anymore). Good thing he has all his shots. Scratches are all cleaned up and he's got some antibiotics to take for a week or so.

Tomorrow afternoon I'm a judge at a Division Toastmaster's contest.  This will be a tough contest as I'm familiar with three of the contestants in the "International" contest.  Two of them have been in clubs I've been in though neither of them are now.  Both have won the state (District) contest, one in this International Contest and the other in a humorous speech contest (which is held in the fall). My home club already has a representative in the District contest next month.  He'll be there to check on his potential rivals. That's the thing with such contests, each level is harder to win so you have to improve your speech.

It finally hit 90 degrees here in Las Vegas, I held out as long as i could but finally had to turn the A/C on last night, and again today as it's not only approaching 90 but the wind is blowing about 40 mph and I don't need all the dust blowing into the house.

 I've spent a lot of my time researching  my maternal grandfather's lines in the Sicilian records on family search. They are un-indexed and in some places I'm having to go record by record. I have made some good finds and found unknown brothers and sister of my great grandparents. The handwriting on some of these records, though, it's bad enough it's in Italian but the swooping curling cursive is enough to make you poke out your eyes. Have a good weekend, everyone!

Having spent 31 of my 44 years living in the desert I have an ingrained hatred of turning on the AC before the middle of May.

In addition to the family search italy records I use  http://www.antenati.san.beniculturali.it/en/home to search records, you can search by region and they have records dating back to 1806. I'm not sure how to edit that into the Kitty page.

This week I've been in my normal routine but my wife and children have been visiting Washington DC, enjoying the sights and sending me pics with recognizable monuments in the background.  The internet keeps me pretty up to date.

I've been appreciating photographs my mother took years ago, and remembering what it was like at the time.  Now we click the shutter a half dozen times for any picture we take, but forty years ago she used to use one roll of 24 exposures to document 24 separate events spanning several months or longer.  Eventually she would turn them in at the drug-store, get a call several days later, then travel back to pick up the prints.  One copy each.  I joke with her about how she always made us stop whatever we were doing and face the camera (back and head up straight) and smile just so.... regardless of what exciting event inspired her to pull out the camera, every picture of my siblings and I are posed exactly the same way (few exceptions).

I'm feeling very positive about WikiTree and the directions it grows!  The quality of the people here makes all the difference in the world.  The way everyone works tirelessly on the things they are good at and selflessly at the things that need to be done is motivating.

Great job leading the Integrators Michael.... Strength and Honor!

I've had the telephone lines torn down and broken three times in the last two weeks, once last week, once yesterday and again today.

The lines on the road are sagging. (We think the "new" telephone pole is moving.) A big truck rolls by catches the line and "POP" broken again. I've got the town road foreman helping me complain. The lines are at an illegal height (too low). The repairmen just say: "I can't fix it, til the boss tells me too."

So I'm waiting for the powers that be (electric, phone, cable) to get it together and fixed permanently.

And I expect that I'll be phone less and internet less again in the next few days.  

Although on the bright side (I'm a Pollyanna), I've cleaned my house, and done all the assorted filing, and it has been the most exciting thing that's happened in my life lately.

I took a grandson to the local cemetery to photograph gravestones for a niece who lives in Florida.  She is hoping to be accepted into Colonial Dames membership.  We have ten generations of one side of the family buried here and seven from another side. When my grandchildren marry  or get jobs and move on, it will be a sense of loyalty to decorate graves on Memorial Day that I think will perhaps show up in their memories at that time.  My mother certainly instilled it in me and I am just about the last one of the family left to carry on the tradition.  It made me chuckle to read the entry of old rolls of film and developing them.  He whipped out his telephone and recorded everything in about four minutes and was ready to be taken to the local fishing hole for the rest of the day. I have many memories of posing with the sun shining in my eyes, face squinched up and trying to stand still.  He doesn't know what I mean!

I'm on a business trip in Chennai, India. There were 3 of us that went on a drive this morning to some local temples, one of which from circa 700 AD. I didn't do so well, as I almost got heat stroke. Napping for all of the afternoon.

I will get back end of next week. Then, home for a week, and then off on the next business trip to New Zealand. With much cooler weather.

Hubby & I are babysitting while the neighbors take a 3 day holiday. It feels good to be around a set of kids (Ages 8,9 & 10) who still like to listen to stories read aloud and others from memory. I have been introduced to a new literary hero - Captain Underpants. Trust me, you have to read the series to really appreciate it. 8-/

Well hello all. It has been a long time since I saw a leave a message and refresh chat. I am relaxing to fight a migraine. Funny most people don't understand how relaxing searching and editing can be.

A little history. I am caregiver for my wife of 36 years. She and I have known each other for over 50 years having met the first time in the first grade. I started researching the family tree for fun and then found some comical connections.... Remembering my grandfather's love for the drinking songs I would know he would have loved to know that our Harrison line (not the presidents) has a connection to Bill Bailey. I have to decipher some of his embellishments of the family tree with what is reality. Well the headache subsides a bit so I will try a cool rag and dark room to get it totally under control.

Migraine does run in my fathers family and I suffer from time to time. Although in my twenties I used to get alot of migraines, luckily they are rarer now in my sixties.

Well got it under control. Went grocery shopping. Now looking over the feed on updates, editing the page for a local business, and cleaning up after supper.

May get to edit some of the uploaded relatives and search for connections. It is difficult tracing the Harrisons when you have common names in the presidents group but not the same. My great aunt was a DAR member but it was through the wives not the Harrisons that I have found so far.

Greetings from Brightlingsea, Essex, England

As busy as ever - Saturday morning open day at Brightlingsea Museum for members of the Friends of Brightlingsea Museum. The museum is having a busy time, with plans for a new museum, based in our former police station. See the plans they have had drawn up and am impressed.

They are very much involved in the big event for the town this summer is the 100th anniversary of the arrival in Brightlingsea of ANZAC troops who trained at the Australian Engineers Training Depot based in the town. Between 1916 and 1919 over 5000 Australian & New Zealand troops were stationed in the town.

There is a Centenary Weekend planned over June 17 -19 in the town and this has become a big event.

Whirlwind of things I can share. This is the last day (2nd weekend Thur-Sun) of the World Famous Coachella Music Fest. The Polo grounds Site is 5 miles up the street from my home! 99,000 attendees each and every day. Incredible Sounds, ambiance, celebrities, Pyro, Sunshine. The demographics may be a bit different from my WikiTree friends.

Our city shifts gears to 70,000 visitors this coming week for Stagecoach Music Fest. The 3 weekends together we will have local spending of $403 MILLION and exhaustion, If You Build It They Will Come.

Last weekend I did a 3000 mile trip to NYC area and took photos of the gravestone of my Ormond grandparents and Wyatt GGPs. All in the same plot. And other gravestones that I can do research on. Generally 1st and 2nd gen Irish immigrants.

GGF Wyatt had historic lineage, he was born 1842 in Paddington, London,. married a Murphy born in NY of Irish immigrants. I had only been to that cemetery once before many decades ago. So I enjoyed the sunny Spring day and pleased I made the time.

DNA and family counts for a certain amount of what our lives become.  Mentors and Teachers are really a big additional piece.

My home town Last Night Celebrated the Contributions of My most inspiring teacher. High School Chemistry 1959-60. He is 80+ now, retired and revered by thousands after his 40+ years of teaching. I had the privilege of being in his very first HS class he taught starting his career.

 Dick Ebeling performed miracles connecting with all the 17 year olds, challenging us to levels of learning, confidence and ambitions we didn’t know about until we spent the year with him. .

Our master of ceremonies yesterday was my best childhood friend who became an Admiral (after his Nuclear Sub Commands). our HS teacher, frequently attended the changes in command of my friend Bill. or key events in others lives. This reflected his passion to stay close in the very best sense, showing us by his examples, and sharing lessons with incoming students.

Out of our class of 59-60, came not only the Admiral, but artists, executives, inventors, lawyers, health professionals, engineers, teachers, everyday citizens, and myself a confidant Chemical Engineer from MIT.
