This ancestral file has his paternal line back four generations.

Ancestral files are not checked for accuracy, so they need to be checked and confirmed if you want to be certain.

Norman was born in 1770, his father per the Ancestral File is Roderick born 1744, Geary, Scotland? Then, Roderick's father is John Mcleod born 1718.

I think the question mark after Roderick's year and place of birth shows some incertainty. Geary is in Skye, Scotland. The MacLeod tartan I am looking at is green, with blue and red and white thin strips. It's labeled as being of Skye. It could be a hunting tartan. The yellow and black MacLeod tartan is associated with the College of Wooster.

The Stewart tartan usually has a lot of red in it, but the Stewart hunting tartan is mostly green with some blue. It also has thin stripes.
