Can I search for Birth/marriages of canadians born /married since 1950, Im trying to piece together the relationships for some Ontario born Canadians with the same surname. Sites such as ancestry.com dont seem to have more records later than 1950, Im unclear are these records accessible or not ?

You can give it a try at familysearch.org (a free site) 1980 marriages are more likely to yield better results that 1980 births as familysearch.org  tends to emphasize deceased people. Just fill in the blanks and press enter. Four examples follow:

Russell John Smith
Ontario Deaths, 1869-1937 and Overseas Deaths, 1939-1947
birth:    5 July 1923    London
death:    5 July 1923    London, Middlesex, Ontario
burial:    7 July 1923    Mount Pleasant
father:    Russell Smith
mother:    Flossie F. Oliver

John Smith
Canada Passenger Lists, 1881-1922
birth:    1920    Canada
immigration:    July 1920    Quebec City, Quebec, Canada

John Smith
Canada Passenger Lists, 1881-1922
birth:        Canada
immigration:    August 1919    Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada

John A Smith
Canada Passenger Lists, 1881-1922
birth:        Ireland
immigration:    October 1919    Quebec City, Quebec, Canada

In every province I've checked, BMD records are held back for a set time. For example, the BC Archives only makes birth records available up to 1903, marriage records up to 1940 (which is two years later than it was just a few weeks ago), and death records up to 1993. However, you may still be able to source more recent events by searching newspaper archives for family notices.

Yes I have been sourcing newspapers but I have a few people with a particular surname and I cant quite work out whose there parents are. Is it listed somehere what this set time is, Ontario is the province Im interested in.

Maybe if you pointed to a profile in that branch, other people could help you look.

Maybe, but I only add things to wikitree when satisfied correct, and some of the people may still be alive so wouldnt be visible to you anyway.
