Why do my Profile photos not show in my tree after the 3rd Gen?

I have profile Photographs for my relatives and have saved them as the primary thumbnail for their profile page. However the thumbnails only show for the first 3 Generations on the my tree view. They show on individual profile pages but do not show on the family tree. What am I doing  wrong?

The always only show 3 generations because there's not room for the thumbnails for the 4th and 5th generation.
