Peiter Køpke son - Hans Christian

I was searching for one ansestor : Hans Christian Pedersen Smid (or Smed or Smith), I know that he lieved on Ærøskøbing, Svendborg, Denmark and from the defunction register that he lived from 1744 to 1796, I almost give up, but from some registers, found that Peiter Køpke had a son  Hans Christian in 19 Jan 1744 and that Peiter Køpke was Peiter Køpke Smid (from other childs registers -Johanne Elisabeth 08 Sep 1748 and Karen 10 Sep 1752).

So he could be Hans Christian Pedersen Smid?

I am almost sure, the date, the lastnames and that Lindelse is not too far from Ærøskøbing, do you have more information about the son of Peiter?

Thanks in advance

Maybe you are on the right track. Peiter Køpke was a (black) smith in Vindeby, Lindelse parish, and had a son named Hans Christian. Looking at sponsors by baptism of other children in the Køpke Family it is clear that there were family connections to Ærøskøbing. So Hans Christian might well have died in that town. However, the disturbing thing is that he is not called Køpke at his burial, but possibly he was simply known as Hans Christian Smidt because of his profession. I would suggest that you look for marriage and children of Hans Christian in the church book of Ærøskøbing, and if any of the sponsors are from Vindeby or Lindelse you got the right man.
