Why doesn't this work? <ref>US Census Index 1900 Kershaw Co., DeKalb Twp., 31-48-18-84.</ref>

Trying to input a reference and it doesn't show up in the list.  Yes, I know it is an index reference to census, not the full reference.  Shouldn't it work?  Or am I cross eyed at the end of the day?  Thank you kindly!!

You'll have to change to Open Privacy so we can see what you have.
Did you do something to it since then?  It works now.
Hmmm.  I though I was told to put the * comments pieces after the <references/> rather than before it, but I'm not sure why.  It just seems to reverse the inlines and the * Notes in the final product.
You are right.  The asterisks go after the inline citations.  A section called Sources or See also should be added.
Every time I ask a question and get the answer there is always another question/answer that comes with it.  Go figure.  Okay - I thought Refs came after Sources - that's the way I thought I saw it illustrated and did it because it worked. However, Am still confused on the definition of Sources vs. references, no matter which comes first..  I think of refs as documents with or without links and most of my evidence comes from personal research, not internet links.  I think of Sources as literature/book/interviews what have you.  And I'm seeing there are a lot of ways different people reference/Source these things.  .  And I'm learning that there are a number of ways to enter these things -  right now I'm grateful to see agreement of Refs being first then Sources!  New tip learned.  THANKS TO ALL.  :)
When you write the biogarphy and cite the sources, the refs are automatically added.  They are what you referenced in your biography.  Sometimes there is information you did not include in the biography.  This goes under sources.

When you create a profile and add a source during creation, you will see a section at the bottom that has sources under it. You can see where they belong since you haven't started a biography at that point.

something is still not right as you have a </ref> tag hanging out there. Because we can't see your edit page it is hard to tell what is wrong.
