I changed the <references /> which I copy paste from a category into the bio below ==Sources== and it always shows up.  It did not today - until I changed the lower case "r" into an upper case <References />  I have yet to enter that link properly and always use my copy/paste guide.  what happened?

The profile you used as an example needs to be set to open if you would like for others to be able to have a look at it in edit mode.
Sorry I didn't even notice the privacy level.  I changed it.

Thank you both!
It seems fine now and is working with lower case <ref>s .There is a lone </ref> after the word Harrison. It isn't doing anything  because there is no earlier <ref> but  it shows up in the final profile. To get rid of it, all you need to do is delete it. (well I deleted it, checked it in preview and everything seemed fine. I didn't save what I did though so you could see for yourself)
Thank you!  Couldn't see the tree for the forest.  "Harrison" helped.
The reference tag should be directly below sources so that the footnotes related to the text precede the bibliographical ones.

Got it!  Finally, thanks for watching out.  I'm learning one thing for sure - I should have taken a class in coding or something . .  .

Well done.  The position of that reference makes little difference on these mostly short biographies but as the biographies grow (even into book length), it will become apparent why the footnote should be the closer one of the two to the body of text.

Need to be able to look at your profile in edit to give you a answer as to what is needed done. If your using and entering it like this <References /> it is wrong, it needs to be like this <ref>.....</ref>

Embed them as references (footnotes)
