I have a  Richard Rose born 1690 married to Ann Horton I don't have children listed so I  am  not positive if this is the Richard you are referring too.  But if it is he is the son of Richard Rose and Elizabeth Sowerby. Father Richard was born 1668 in Surrey Virginia to parents William Rose and Ann some say last name is Wright.  This William was born in 1622 in either England or Scotland.  He is the son of William Rose of Kilravock and Agnes Chisholm.

You can find genealogies of the Kilravock Roses online going quite far back.  You didn't date or locate your Richard Rose and his daughter so it is hard to look for them. My family named Ross lived nearby in Nigg and they are not in any way related to the Ross family of Balnagowan who had a castle there.  Often families who lived near or in the vicinity and worked for a landholder adopted their surname when surnames were first used.  Not many people had a surname until the 1600s.

If your people were actually related to the gentry, they should be in the Rose genealogies, old online books or from websites. Hope this helps a bit.
