Hello,

I have been tracing my McIntyre roots and have hit a brick wall with my great great grandfather.  I know that he was born bc 1820. Glasgow.. his father was Alexander McIntyre. this information was from my G.g.grandfathers wedding certificate..my g.g.grandfather was married twice.. stating on both that his father being Alexander McIntyre and on one certificate it states that his father profession was a hairdresser, and the other states a baker.  My. g.g.grandfather I have found him in the English 1851 census as a labourer, but have searched endlessly to try and find him  in both English and Scotish 1841 census but to no avail.  My.g.g.grandfather became a grocer and I believe he owned his own shop in the Bullring North Shields....I have been in touch with the local Library there too....nothing came back to shine any light to enable me to go any further.  Please if anyone has any information, or links ....please please could you let me know.

Thank you......an exasperated Sue  :O)

Not much help, I'm afraid, but what about the Monswearmouth one for 1841? Seems quite likely. Then he goes through to 1901.in North Shieldfs.
