Unfortunately, most of his records are very faint and near impossible to read but there is a Descriptive Roll & Acct for Pay & Clothing that provides great information.
His enlistment date on all the Muster Rolls state October 27, 1861 at Quincy, Illinois. The Descriptive Roll states an Enlistment Date as July 19, 1961 at St Josephs, MO and seems to be a correction to the Oct date.
The Descriptive Roll also states his occupation as a Mason and that he was born in Bucks County, Penn. It states that he is 27 years old in 1863.
There is nothing reporting parents or spouse.
Per a Prisioner of War roll call, he was captured on Sept 20, 1861 at Lexington, MO (his commander surrendered his troops to the "rebel army." He was delivered to St Josephs, MO on Sept 27, 1861. He was released due to a Prisioner exchange on Sept 7, 1862.
Hope this helps!
