I am William Ronald Schindler born 10/10/1952 in Corpus Christi Texas. My father was William Edward Schindler born August 29, 1922 in Hallettsville, Texas. He was the son of Alfons Schindler born in Hallettsville, married to Anna Pastucha. They had 10 children, were farmers. My paternal grandfather moved to Houston, then loss all their money due the Great Depression, returned to Hallettsville where friends and relatives, gave them live stock and farming equipment. My father William Edward was apprenticed to his oldest brother Adolf, who built furniture for a company in Houston 8 hrs/day, then in him home shop 8 hours a day. Adolf suffered a blow to his abdomen from a kickback on a table saw, was taken to a hospital, found only to have a bruise, but having continued pain returned the next day, taken to surgery and closed. Alfons wife had to remarry, but my father's stepfather only will keep the 3 youngest children. So my father moved in with my mothers oldest brother Frank T Steffek, as a worker as my uncle Frank had no children yet. This allowed my father, William E to attend a decent school, and when he was 17 he joined the Navy. He was an aviation Machinest mate in the Navy and later fell in love with my mother Albina Marie Steffek, the youngest of 5 Steffek Children, all born in Hallettsville Texas. My mothers father was Frank Alois Steffeck, Married to Jenovieve Kalmus. Born in Hallettsville. My mother Albina live to age 82 and my father to 86, despite 2 heart attacks and triple bypass surgery. They were devout Catholics. After a funeral in Hallettsville, my mothers body was interred in a cemetary in Colfax California. My father lived in a small apartment above my sisters garage in Auburn California. He died of aspiration pneumonia. His last words to me were "see you on the other side" Despite his lack of education, he studied and read constantly, seeing both of his children become doctors.
