Known Connection Between OH and SC Vanderhorst Families?

I am related to the Vanderhorst family of SW Ohio (St. Marys/Minster area). I can trace this line back to Benedict(us) (Bernard) Vanderhorst (1805-1869) who was born in Holland and died in Minster, Ohio, and possibly back one more generation to Henricus Nicholas Van Der Horst (1759-1819) of Holland.

In the course of my research, I have found that the Vanderhorst name is by far the most prominent in South Carolina (especially Charleston), but is also found in Ohio, Michigan, and Iowa. Is there any known connection between the group of Vanderhorsts that originally clustered in Ohio and those that clustered in South Carolina?

There are quite a few unsourced profiles in your immediate ancestry.  Once those are sourced, hopefully your question can be more easily answered.  Looks like the http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Project:Dutch_Roots could be of some interest for you.  Also try https://familysearch.org/search/ for looking for sources for your immediate ancestors.  Happy hunting!
