Supposed connection of my g-g-g-grandmother Elizabeth Macgregor born 1808 and died 1884 to Rob Roy MacGregor

My g-g-g-grandmother Elizabeth MacGregor was born about 1808 and was Scottish.  She died in 1884 in Armagh, Northern Ireland.  She married Christopher O'Reilly, an Irishman and military man.  I don't know if they married in the UK, India or Australia.  A distant relative I have just met tells me that her father always said he was descended from Roy Roy.

I don't know her parentage.

Does anyone have her in their tree please?

Do not have her family tree, but found some descendants of Rob Roy.

For more info, you could try a search of      Rob Roy descendants                 That's where I found the two items above.

I has been said that it's best to start with what you know and work back one generation at a time.

Rob Roy was born in the 1670's i think-- that about 130 before your Grandma was born. If she was born in Ireland as a MacGregor, Rob Roy very well could have been a great or even grandparent/uncle. Some MacGregors managed to hold onto their name- esp the ones who left Scotland.  or they could have waited out the heat and took up the name again. 1884 isnt to early to have a record of her death somewhere with her parents name on it! I am fascinated with  MacGregor history! Good Luck!
