I really need help with finding more info on August and Matilda Robinson, they came here from Ireland in the mid 1800s

Question

Hello, I am needing help with finding my GGgrandparents, August and Matilda Robinson.  August was born approx 1848 and Matilda in 1847.  Both were born in Ireland. They had my GGrandmother Matilda in 1885 in Virginia.  I am at a brick wall here.. My GGrandmother married John Hamilton Tyree.  I would appreciate any help I can get with this.. I am new to Wiki tree and still learning my way around..

Oh MY GOODNESS thank you so much for this help... I have tried for a month on Ancestry.com and had no luck.  I appreciate your help.  I am adding people to my tree now but I fear I may home dates wrong and trying to research each person can be daunting... I have traced most my branches to many kings and queens and other famous people.  I love doing this..

There is a Matilda Robinson in the 1851 census in Ireland but I fear that at 14 she is too old to be the one you are looking for.

Firstly, the surname may be of early medieval English origin, and is from the female given name "Hannah" or "Anna", from the Hebrew "Chana", meaning "He (God) has favoured me (i.e. with a child)". There's an Augustus Robinson in Cloughkeating, Modreeny, in County Tipperary in the Griffiths Valuation. This could be your man, or his father. I would proceed to check parish records for baptisms in 1850 or so. Do you know what religion they were??
