Hi there everyone.

Question

Just wanted to say hello and let you know how excited I am to be here.  I'm Karen Raichle, born and reared in Florida, but most of my ancestors were in SC and TN.

I started this journey a long while back after listening over the years to all of my grandfather's stories about his family. He didn't have anything written down, just what his father had told him when he was a child.  I wanted to see if I could prove that his memories and stories were more fact than fiction.   After all these years it turned out that more often than not he was right, I just had to find the sources to prove it to myself.  Probably never should have questioned his memory!

I'm really looking forward to expanding my knowledge of my family and possibly helping others in their quest.

I just joined myself last month. Where in South Carolina and Tennessee are your ancestors from? I have some in both states!!

My South Carolina base is the upper northwestern corner of the state including the counties of Greenville, Newberry, Laurens, and Union.  In Tennessee I'm working mainly in middle TN, counties are Jackson, Putnam, Smith, and Clay.

Mine are Anderson, SC and Columbia SC. In Tennessee it would be Sumner County where I have a cousin.

My grandfather's uncle was a doctor in Anderson until his death.  Grandfather's sister lived in Columbia when she first married. I also have cousins in Sumner Co. TN  Guess we do share some territory.
