Frank McCourt, Teacher (and author)

Frank McCourt already had a profile, yet remains an unconnected notable.

He is noted largely for his authorship -- Angela's Ashes, 'Tis, Teacher Man.

I knew him first as a teacher, back at Stuyvesant HS.  He was notable to us his students and those who hoped to be his students. He was loved and admired as a teacher.  His creative writing course remains among my best memories of High School.

His profile here remains unconnected, but I have added several of his family members.  Anyone willing to help connect him to the global tree?

I did add the "Teachers" category to him - I'll look his profile over a bit more later when I have time.

Thanks!
Two of his brothers Malachy and Alphonse also have wikipedia pages (I've added their profiles, too).   When profiles merit wikipedia pages, are they for us also thereby notable?
We use the Notability standard that Wikipedia uses, so generally if they have a Wikipedia page, then they're considered to be Notables.
Thanks - I read that, and just wanted to confirm.  When the wikipedia entry appears to be a stub, it leaves me wondering.
I think the only exception would be if Wikipedia is still determining if they meet their Notability standards, and you suspect they don't quite qualify.

There's also the exception where there's no Wikipedia article on them, but if you submitted one, you're fairly certain that it meets their criteria. In that case, they'd still be considered Notable on our end. I think that's why we don't use the whole "if they have a Wikipedia article, they qualify" as criteria, but instead state we follow their criteria.
