Seeking marriage record for Manuel Franco and Maria Patricia Sonora Valenzuela in Chihuahuha, Mexico.

Summary:  My Franco family has been in California since 1926.  From about 1883 to 1926, they were in New Mexico, having immigrated from Mexico.  Census records indicate that they first two generations in NM were born in Mexico.  I have not found Mexican records of Francos, but I did find a Mexican baptism for Maria Patricia Garriela Sonora Valensuela, daughter of Juan Sonora and Agustina Valenzuela.  Parents' names match with names provided in Patricia's 2nd marriage in Socorro County, New Mexico to Jose L. Gallegos, which also states that she was widow of Manuel Franco.

I hope to find the marriage record for Manuel Franco and Patricia Sonora.  Because Patricia was born there, and her parents were married there in 1849, I believe that Chihuahua is a good starting place.  Children are estimated to be born between 1870 and 1877.  Husband Manuel Franco may have died in Mexico, before emigration.  One son, born about 1873, was named Manuel Franco.  Possible middle initial E., though that is not certain.

Posiblemente su abuelo Albert... # 146978899.         Albert Jaramillo "Smokey" Franco .

Birth:  May 7, 1925
New Mexico, USA
Death:  May 3, 1991
Pleasant Hill
Contra Costa County
California, USA
Albert Jaramillo Franco was born in New Mexico in 1925 to Manuel Montoya Franco and Lazara Gonzales Jaramillo (Franco). In 1925 or 1926, his parents and one older sister moved from New Mexico to Contra Costa County by train, because his father was following work with the railroad.

During World War II, he was a Private in the United States Army, landing first in northern Africa, the soldiers trained and prepped for months. Then, they landed southwest of Rome, Italy, and fought their way north. He received Purple Hearts and a Bronze Star, was stabbed, shot and once buried under a building for days before being rescued. Decades later, he told his grandson, "You don't have to be a hero, mijo, but don't ever be a coward!"

In Contra Costa County in 1949, he married Celia Ochoa Verduzco, and together they raised five children in the same county.

In May 1991, he finally succumbed to cancer, after fighting it for years longer than the doctors had said was likely. His children, grandchildren and great grandchildren still live in northern California...some in Contra Costa County.

He is buried in the Catholic cemetery, a few miles west of his home.
