Profiles Dederick-17 and Dederick-4 could be the same person.  Catharine is my 4th great grandmother but, something is not right in the information of the two.  Would like help with this.  Thank you

D-17 died 1835, D-4 still living. not a great possibility of duplication.
Hi Tom,

Thanks for the look see.  Both Dederick-4 and Dederick-17 show the same birth and death dates, 1764-1835.  My Dederick-17 is for Catharine Burhans formerly Dederick.  The Dederick-4 is also spelled Diederick.  I am confused.  Can you take another look?

Thanks

It's Diederick-4 instead of Dederick-4.

I think the dates are just a coincidence. Is Tjerk connected to the wrong Catherine Dederick?

Maybe mark them as unmerged match until both of them have better sources.

So I did a little more research and I'm pretty sure that Tjerk is connected to the wrong Catherine Dederick. From the source on his page: "Tjerck, bap. at Saugerties 2 Oct. 1757, d. 25 Nov. 1832. He m. 3 Aug. 1784 Catharine Dederick, b. 23 June 1764, dau. of William Dederick and Christina Baer. She d. 7 Oct. 1835." The Catharine described is Diederick-4, but he is attached to Dederick-17, who seems to be a different person.

Well, that 's close.  He is stating Dederick-4, but he means Diederick-4. And he's right, Dederick-17 and Diederick-4 appear to be the same individual. However, one was born in New York, the other in Germany, one died in New York, the other in Germany.

Carl, this is very common, due to many GEDCOM dumps that were perpetrated upon Wikitree in the beginning, before we realized the problems that were occuring.

De-17 and Die-4 Have similarly named fathers, but different mothers. The both have the same married name, but there is no evidence of a husband named anything for Die-4

I'm going to propose that this match be rejected, they are two different people.

EDIT: the husband will have to be transferred to the correct spouse..
