Did you know there's a way to see date/gender issues?

One of our amazing WikiTreers, Aleš Trtnik, created this tool that allows you to see date and gender issues.

You can search from a particular WikiTree ID back 10 generations, or a particular surname or location.

I have been playing with this tool.  It is very helpful.

1. It does not update in real time.  I tried it last night and today it has not corrected for updates.  I presume that may have something to do with how WikiTree servers update even though the profile has been updated.

2. It searches down cousin lines.  So I get results for non-direct family members, 3 generations down in one case, but I do not know what it actually searches.

3. You can change the number of generations it searches.

4. I am not clear on just what the location search does.  It appears to find all errors for a given location, not just your family.

Aleš can we get more details about how this functions?

And like any good tool, I already have options I would like.

1. Can we search by location and surname?

2. Can we limit the collateral line search?

3. Can this update in real time?   I made a bunch of changes but I am waiting for it to update so I can see what I missed rather than covering the same ground.

4. How can we integrate this with WikiTree?

Cool Tool,  I found a lot of missing but obvious gender errors.

It also found same sex marriages.  Both wrong gender assignments and duplicated parents where father and mother were the same person.

Thank you Aleš!

I must have errors ? I get " Total: 73 profiles 0 errors." . I started with myself.
Yes, it is a neat tool.  I corrected several problems yesterday, but they are still showing up today.  How often is the database this works from updated?

Aleš performs his analysis on a dump of the Wikitree database that is provided to him once a month.

So corrections one makes in the live database will only be reflected in the error reporting next month.

Thanks Jan, that is very enlighten!

This is very cool, but can this count be correct?

Total: 12291 profiles 1054 errors. ?????

I did the search on my ID, Cooper-1 at 10 generations. Are all these connected to my ID in some way?

Wow. The LOCATION query is awesome ! I plugged in for the location of Buffalo, Erie, New York >>

Terrific !  It caught some pretty bad marriages; people getting married too young, as babies, after death, ect .

HOLY ! COW  ! WOW ! BOY HOWDY ! HOT DOG ! YEAH BUDDY !  This is fantastic!  I don't have to track descendant lists , look at each profile. Fill up binder after binder , file box after file box. I looked at one profile and got in 30 seconds what has taken me 3 years to track. I think I may have crossed into a new dimension.  Now if I can figure out how to use it.  Thank You Ales Trtnik.

So Trudy, what I hear you saying is...yippee? lol Mags
That's about it Mags. I have 2 ancestors from the 1600s that Im working the down lines. And this tool just lays it out right there. Still gonna take for ever to get it all done , butvat least its all organized by decent.

Oh my... Total: 2314 profiles 185 errors.

Lots of duplicates that need to be addressed. Ugh. I need to save this as a file and start working on these. Thanks!

(note, NOT a sarcastic thanks, either - definitely grateful to have an easy way to identify these...)

A project for fixing database errors has been launched:

Members of the Dutch Roots project are already fixing 3000+ errors in Dutch profiles!
