I hope someone who knows more can chime in.  I've not looked for data covering that side of the trip other than ship manifests.

Other than passenger lists, you could try to check at the state archive (archivio di stato) of the region where you are researching, if they have a passport issue control.

Sometimes cities have emigration information on "stato di famiglia" archives (might contains where they moved). This is a document that states who is the family, parents and children info consolidated in one document and where they lived.
