The answer to this is complicated. If you have their birth date in the GEDCOM then they could be imported and the privacy settings should be set so that their names and decade of birth will show, but depending on the privacy setting you eventually set for their profiles that would be all that shows up to others. If they have no dates then they can not be uploaded at all. The link David shows in his answer will tell you more but be certain that you can live with their names and decade of birth showing before you continue because it is not possible to delete profiles once you have added them to the tree.
