Your relationship to a historically significant person belongs on your profile

Question

Recently some people have started posting comments on the profiles of historically significant ancestors (HSA), many of which fall within the European Aristocrats Project.  They will post (again, as a comment, not in the bio section) something along the line of "(Their Name) is a 24th great-grandniece of (HSA)."

These ancestors have tens of thousands, some millions, of descendants.  The comment section would quickly become overwhelmed and the page tremendously lengthy if everyone that descends from them posts their relationship.

I know it's exciting when you can connect to a noble, royal and/or aristocrat from long ago.  Feel free to place these notations on your profile page, within your biography, not on the page of the ancestor.  You can put as many as you'd like on your profile page, with a link to the ancestor.

Maybe create a template with show/hide buttons where people can add things like this.... If someone connect to a person it is maybe interesting information to understand that this person is on the line to xxxx

While your logic is sound and appreciated, I presume that this is a policy recommendation?

Michael, this has been happening primarily by newbies. I want people to be aware of where such notations should go. I think some people don't think about how many thousands of people descend from these particular ancestors.  As a leader of the EuroAristo project, I want to point this out.

I believe this should be added as a policy issue. While it is great that people want to point out the relationship: it is an ancestor that made the accomplishment and not the descendent; an ancestor that is shared by perhaps thousands.
