Why is my gedcom upload process stalled?

I uploaded a GEDCOM months ago.  It passed through the first stage of the approval process, but I've never heard anything further.  About a week after upload, I inquired and was told that I should receive an email when it has finished processing, but two months later I haven't heard a thing, good or bad.  I checked in the watchlist and don't see anything except myself (and my mom and dad, whom I just added manually within the past 15 minutes).  The cousin who invited me to WikiTree is getting pretty antsy to see my tree, but as far as I can tell, it feel into a black hole somewhere.  This whole process is highly unintuitive, so I don't even know what to look at/try next.  Any suggestions?

I had a similar experience and ended up deleting mine. I am guessing there is a backlog. I believe Eowyn does the Gedcoms and I know from reading about wikitree she does an enormous amount of volunteer work for it. Wikitree is very popular so I am guessing the amount of Gedcoms is growing. From a personal standpoint I would have deleted and started to manually add (you are obviously far more patient than I am) :)

Not more patient; I just forgot about it until my relative asked. lol  If it's just taking longer to process, I'm okay with that.  I just want to a) know if I should be DOING something else and b) know what to tell my relative!

Hi Rachel,

I'm not sure what happened with your GEDCOM when you uploaded it previously.  After 30 days though, if a GEDCOM hasn't been imported into WikiTree, it is automatically deleted. That's what's happened in your case.

You can certainly upload it again if you'd like.  You should get an email once it is uploaded with instructions on the next step of the process.  If  you do upload it again and you don't get an email relatively soon after, message me and I'll take a look.

Thanks!

Aw, man. :(  It might actually be less trouble to manually add my entire tree than to pick over all the entries in the gedcom all over again.  Oh, well.  Thank you!
Rachel, You have hit on the truth!  It is easier to add your tree from scratch.  Most of us built our trees before there were such good online resources, and, when we first started, we didn't understand the importance of sourcing, so our GEDCOM'd profiles look horrible. Trying to clean up a GEDCOM you have been working on for years takes a lot of time.  If you start from scratch, you can do it right, and you will probably see things you didn't catch when you originally worked on your family.
