...but I seem to have more information than the original profile.  I'm not sure how to proceed so this person is connected to my tree and all the information is correct.  I created Rittenhouse-514.  Thanks!

When you merge the two you will be able to retain your information from the profile that will be merged away, nothing gets lost. So go ahead and initiate a merge of your profile into that with the lower number.

Thanks!  I'll do that.  Is it necessary for me to do complete profiles on children not in my direct line?  It's time-consuming and some are difficult to get good sources on.
If I have people without any other information but a name and a relationship I might only mention them in the biography, but if I have even incomplete documented information (let's say a birth but nothing else) I create a profile and enter what I have. It's supposed to be a collaborative effort and my incomplete start-ups might give somebody else the lead to complete the profiles.
Thanks.  I have been developing my stuff mostly on Ancestry and will transfer anything relevant.
