Im stuck tryin to add GEDCOM file from Geni Family Tree file.

Question

Hi. I am a newbie on this site, but am not a newbie on the Geni & MyHeritage websites. I am havin major troubles adding me Geni -  Family Tree "GEDCOM" file. I dont get it at all on how to add me family . Its way, way more complicated than the websites "Geni" & "MyHeritage", where all i have to do on those sites is download the GEDCOM file & upload it. Can someone please help me with this frustratin situation i am having. Many thanks in return.

I need help. I uploaded me GEDCOM file "again" from the Family Tree Webpage "Geni" & have noticed on me tree that there are "still" only a few relatives on there (me, me mum, me dad, me grandma & grandpa) when there should be 100's of me relatives on me tree. I had no problems downloadin me GEDCOM file from "MyHeritage" & uploadin me GEDCOM file to "Geni" & vice versa. So why is this site different than Geni & MyHeritage? Why is it harder to upload a GEDCOM file to this site than any other Family tree sites?

Hi Steven, and a warm welcome.
 

From what programme are you trying to upload? e.g. Legacy or ??? As it will need to be converted to upload.  Have a look at your file extension.  What does it say?

Thankyou. I have gotten up the GEDCompare Report & have 85 matches to review & im stuck from there on.

I downloaded me GED file from the Geni website (export-forest.ged) which im tryin to upload to this site. I just had a look at the file & its a *.ged file. Does that mean i have to convert it or can i upload it the way it is?
