Question

I am looking for the last name Sloan. My grandmother was Mittie Sloan, DOB: March 9, 1896 in Athens, Henderson County Texas! But what i am thinking is that my great grandmother mother and father had to been slaves. I can't find anything before 1896 on her. Everytime I try to link information from Athens Henderson County Texas. There are so many Sloan's that were there but I cant figure out if they link in any way. I found her in the 1940 census, what was her maiden name?   Her children were Darty last name and Sloan last name.

Her maiden name was Sloan but I don't think she was ever married i am thinking since she was with the man she was with and had children by apparently she gave the other children his last name. I have searched in circle so I know Darty can't be the name because she was born as Sloan. I'm really stuck and don't know which way to go with this!

Let me explain myself better. The list of children names on Mittie Darty's Census one of her daughters was my was my grandmother which is S.G. Sloan. My great great grandmother had children that had the last name Darty and Sloan. I know some of the Darty's Family but they dont consider the Sloan family as apart of their family because of the last names.

Then born year and death date are saying two different things DOB: March 9, (1896 and 1987) and deceased June 6th and June 15th 1973. This had me confused. I was trying to found out who her parent were. But the information I found didn't give me this information on her parents. Its show so much and it cuts off. This is is good good!
