G2G: Is there a way to see the previous changes of a merged profile?

Question

When two profiles are merged, the remaining profile only has its change history, but there's no way to see the change history of the other.

Is there a way that I haven't discovered yet?

My sister created a new profile for herself when she joined, and we've merged them together, but it appears we've lost the change history for the profile she had.

final profile: Wheeler-10611

other profile: Wheeler-10855

In the Change Log, look for the line that says "Merged Wheeler-10855 into Wheeler-10611" and click on Wheeler-10855.

I used to think it didn't work.  If you click on the bottom line, it does redirect back.

I read that. It mentions a link. But that link doesn't exist (that I can find, yet).

edit: Sorry, my response was confusing. I meant the old profile link to click on (referenced on the Changes page). Nothing wrong with the Merging link (except it doesn't answer my question)

O'Connor-81 is a complete mess, and appears to be the result of merging two profiles for completely different people (not to mention revealing my email address).

Following the instructions above, I found the change history for O'Connor-5138.

I can mouseover "Mary O'Connor (abt.1803-1873)" and see the basic details of the merged-away profile, but I cannot see the merged-away biography. Is this because there were no edits between the creation of the profile and the merge proposal? Or is there any other way of seeing what was in each profile before the wrong merge?

The email reveal happened 3 years after the merge.   I see the merged-away data here.

Melanie's link is by selecting 'edited data' on the last entry in the change log for O'Connor-5138. The change log link you provided shows there are 3 changes. If you select the created 1st item, it takes you to the new biography, so if you want to see what changes were made prior to the merge, you have to select the 'edited data' on the last one and select Previous to see each change or to get to the original Created entry.

I'm still not sure how you got to that page.

It looks like the present mess was actually imported from a GEDCOM file.

I'm not sure what would happen if I clicked the link to restore data from as it was 20:39, 13 October 2020 but in this case I don't think it will make much difference.

You can't unmerge something. The change to the birth was just done in Dec when the email was changed because profile could not be saved. Email had been on profile from the beginning when profile was created. It is a somewhat recent change that will not allow profiles to be saved with emails in profile.
