I recently found DNA results for me from National Geographic Genographic Project. Is this useful? Where can I enter this info? It is Y chromosome testing - Haplogroup R1b (M343)....

The first Genographic test (1.0) was a Y-DNA12 test for males and an mtDNA HVR1 test for males and females.  It was replaced by version 2.0 which was a limited autosomal test along with Y-DNA haplogroup information for males and mtDNA haplogroup info for males and females.

The first version (Genographic 1.0) for Y-DNA should be added to YSearch and that YSearch ID added to the tester's DNA Tests page in WikiTree.  The first version for mtDNA should be added to MitoSearch and that MitoSearch ID added to the tester's DNA Tests page in WikiTree.

The Genographic 2.0 test has very limited use for genealogy.

If you have 1.0 or 2.0 results, you should transfer them to Family Tree DNA (for free).  Then 1.0 results should be upgraded to Y-DNA37 (for males).  mtDNA HVR1 should be upgraded to HVR1&2 (aka mtDNAPlus).  Males with 2.0 results should order the Y-DNA37 test. Male and female 2.0 testers should order the mtDNAPlus test.  Both 1.0 or 2.0 testers should order the Family Finder test.

James, you may want to read about the National Geographic test at this link: http://www.wikitree.com/wiki/DNA_FAQ

Why can't you enter a National Geographic or BritainsDNA test?
