Will the real father of Cristobal De La Garza, please stand up?

Question

Hello everyone!  I have in my tree my 5-time Great Grandfather named Joseph (Jose) Cristobal De La Garza (b ~1743). I have him married to Maria Dolores De Oria (b 09 Nov 1740) on 22 Feb 1764.

I have seen a couple of trees Cristobal had a father named Diego de la Garza Trevinio, but I don’t see any sources. I show him having a father named Juan Antonio De La Garza. Here is a link to what I have for a marriage source for Cristobal and Dolores and what MIGHT be Cristobal’s father... with an image further down in the webpage... (https://www.macfamilytree.com/JamesinTX/GarzaCaldera%20Family%20Tree/resources/Media_17961012.jpeg).  With the handwriting as bad as it is, I'm not going to say I'm 100% right because the name in the image is listed as a “padrino” instead of “abuelo”, and god parents are not the same as grandparents.

With other trees/websites noting that Diego is the father, I would really like to know what the source is.  If an image exists showing that, even better!!  Thanks so much for your help!!

I am guessing that he was born in Mexico and died there as well. Would he have been born in the same location where he was married and is he buried in the same community? If not, can you share the birth and burial (date if you have it) locations? This info could help find his father's name.

If there is a way to find Cristobal's burial record, sometimes it will have the names of the parents.

There was a marriage two years prior to the birth year you had for Cristobal De La Garza. The marriage was in Neuvo, Leon, Mexico in 1741.
