Correcting children of MajGen Humphrey Atherton (1607 - 1661)

Hi all,

MajGen Humphrey Atherton's (Atherton-77) children are incorrectly indicated in the Project Protected file profile.

Elizabeth (Atherton-75) is an AKA for Catherine (Atherton-74) as seen in Source note 13.
I suggest unlinking Elizabeth from Humphrey (Atherton-77) and Mary Wales (Wales-42), changing the first name of Catherine (Atherton-74) to Elizabeth and adding an AKA of Catherine.

To whom must I request permission to either modify this data myself or have the information modified?

Thanks,
Bob

While you are correcting errors...

it is not accepted that Wales is the LNAB of his wife Mary.  This came from the will of Nathaniel Wales who called Humphrey his brother-in-law.  However, this is not because Humphrey Atherton had married a sister of Nathaniel Wales, but because their children had married (Nathaniel Wales jr. married Isobel Wales).

The ancestry of Humphrey Atherton is not proven with several possible candidates.

Bob,  It is always best to reach out to the leaders of any Project Protected Profile and inform them what you are wanting to do.  Heck, it is best to do that for any profile you want to make changes to if you are not the PM.  Communication and Collaboration are what make WikiTree work.

Keep in mind that a PPP only protects the Last Name at Birth (LNAB) from being merged away and from removing the parents.  If you were to make changes and corrections, explanations and source info are highly encouraged.

Here is a link to the Puritan Great Migration Project.

And thanks for asking!

(Michael, by posting this question to g2g and linking it to the profile, Bob is actually doing what you're recommending...)  ;-)
Yes, I just wanted to make that clear in case there was any confusion in the process.  Thanks Jillian, you make that even clearer.
