Hello.  My mother and I are both members of the DAR.  Her patriot ancestor was Buckner Killebrew, who resided in North Carolina during the American Revolution.  I would like information on this branch of my family "before" the war.  I would like to know what country they came from.  My mom's brothers INSIST their ancestry is Welsh, but I'm convinced they're from England.   After the war, her Killebrew ancestors migrated to Tennessee and became of of the First Families of Tennessee.  "Her" direct descendants later migrated to   Oklahoma, where my mom was born.  Any leads, or information would be most appreciated.  Thank you!  Mary Darby

Do you know the year he was born and the location? Wife's full name could help trace more info as well as marriage year and location. Did he die in the war in NC or later, where (state, county, and city if you have them).

Montgomery, Tennessee and Christian County, Kentucky would probably have records on the Killabrew Family. My ancestor Stephen Mallory married Elizabeth Ann Merry in 1842. Elizabeth's parents went to Houston TX and both died before Elizabeth Married. William Killabrew son of Buckner was her guardian. Run a search in Google for Buckner KIllabrew.

Here is this for what's it's worth:

I have an old Bible family tree of ? age and provenance from my Killebrew famil, prob. gmother Emma. . It has Buckner Killebrew 1763 s. of Robert Killebrew 1730 (presum. bdate) , M. to Mary Whitfield 1765 (presum b.), parents of Wm Henry Killebrew 1787. M Nancy Johnspn b. 1798. Their son is Geo Washington Killebrew b. 1814, m Mary Ann Moore b. 1819; s. is Wm Henry Killebrew 1838-1918, m Nora Johnson 1841-1926.  Their son is Gillis George 1866-1916, m. Emma Fields Barbee 1869-1955 ?July 19, I have sibs for both sides. Their children were George Wm, Richard Fields, Gillis Geo. Augustus Layfayette, Robert Hewitt, Emily Tabitha. For more details contact me, dgtr Robt Hewitt. Killebrew-107

My assumption is that the Killebrews were frm Cornwall.
