Newbie looking for help finding German great grandmother

Question

I am looking to find information about my great grandmother, Johanna Meier Trautmann.  I believe she was born in Bremerhaven or Bremen in 1863.  I have no information about her parents or siblings.  We believe she came to the US in 1883.  She was married in 1884 in Passaic, NJ to Wilhelm Trautmann.  Since I am new, I don't really know what resources to look at.  Any help is greatly appreciated.

There are two sites that are free which you may want to check out, one is familysearch.org which is extensive. The other is surnamedb.com which has info on the origins of many surnames. I expect they probably have Taylor, Meyer and Trautmann or a spelling variant.

I use familysearch.org the most. There was a Pedigree Resource File submission for Elsie A Taylor which included her husband and her parents. It goes back more generations on her husband's side of the family. It was submitted on 5/2/2016 by Radicalkindness. If you click on Radicalkindness, you can send a message. I have never tried this, so I don't know what to expect.

Familysearch.org does not check the Pedigree Resource File for accuracy, so you may want to verify the correctness of the submission. Most of  the other information at familysearch.org seems to be from source documents.

Review the profiles of Johanna Meier and Wilhelm Trautmann. I added sources and information to get you started.

Note the different spellings to be found on FamilySearch ..

There are several possible sources for parents on FamilySearch but a definite birth date is needed for Johanna.
