G2G: PGM Remove parents of historically significant Proile of George Martin Witch Trials

Question

George Martin's parents and origins are unknown according to the Great Migration Directory published by Robert Charles Anderson in 2015. The parents shown should be detached. According to a series of articles in TAG (56:155-59; 58:193-204; 59:11-22) There is no reason to believe he is related to any other family of the same name in New England.

The same series of articles in TAG (56:155-59; 58:193-204; 59:11-22) also conclude that the maiden name of his first wife Hannah was not Green. It is currently unknown.

I'd like to propose that we remove these parents and change the maiden name of his wife Hannah to Unknown.

The biography needs a clean up and sourcing but I won't get to that right now because I'm working on other profiles this week.

Concur with other answers here. I added links to disputed parents in bio; they're ready to be detached.

One of the admins, Jane. sent a note that she wants to check her sources for his parents. So I'll hold off a bit on detaching them.

But it appears we are green on changing Hannah Green to Hannah unknown (pun intended). Bobbie is on board with this too. That's a great idea to merge her into a recycled profile. I just initiated the merge.

There is no longer a PM named Jane (and we never heard from her) so I recommend the parents be detached.

I agree with removal. (I'm on the trusted list, but since I didn't ever create a profile for this man, I'm not one of the several PMs.)

Since removal will disconnect some families from a supposed aristocratic lineage in England, it would be best to PPP this profile after the parents are removed, to reduce the chance of the parents' getting added back.

I concur. Remove the parents. I've merged the duplicated sons named Samuel, and sourced his birth.

Agreed, Roland. I have never found any parents with reliable sources for George, nor a maiden name for Hannah.

I also agree that the parents of George should be removed. I've never investigated the topic of Hannah's parents.
