Would anyone be able and willing to convert a family tree maker ftmb file for me?

Question

An elderly relative of my wife supplied me with what was thought to be a ged file, but turns out to be a Family Tree Maker backup.

I don't want to try to explain to him how to redo it as a gedcom, as he is quite old and not that interested sadly.

I also don't want to spend $99 for something I will never use and there is no trial for the program anymore.

We're very keen to get this file sorted so we can upload it to our profile.

@David: Unfortunately those links just basically say that an .ftmb file is a Family Tree Maker backup file, and to use Family Tree Maker to open it.

Wayne is asking for an alternative way to open the file and get the information out with having to use Family Tree Maker.

I've got FTM 2014 installed and there is a free download for FTM 2005 that will open some of the older files. If I can open it I can create a GEDCOM w/o any problem. Just drop me a note. I also belong to another group that has access to a number of the older versions and if I can't do it I'll consult with them.
