Looking for John Hodge's wife or previous wives before Margaret Phillips

Question

I have sources that state Margaret Phillips was the stepmother to John's children Mary and James. And that Margaret was mistreating them and they were removed from her care. Before I add this info and detach her as Mary's mother ,  I'd like to find John's previous wife or wives.  I'm not having any luck. I would appreciate help with this. Thanks Trudy

If John (WikiTree profile) was born in 1618, he would have been 67 when Mary was born in 1685? What year was James born? If she died in 1803, she would have been 118 at the time of her death.
