Can I delete an orphaned profile someone attached to my relatives that I know does not belong?

Welcom Patricia, as pointed out by T Cassidy, you can detach and thus re-orphan the profile.  If you think this may happen again, you can include a note on both profiles indicating how you know it was incorrect.  Remember, sources are always the best way to support a claim, so if you have them show them. Thanks for asking!

I'd recommend trying to find the parents before you completely orphan the profile, or else it might find its way back. If that's not feasible, I'd put the profile in the bio - note why it was detached - indicate that sources are needed, parents are needed, etc. and then do the same for the other profile - note that it was removed from parents so-and-so, incorrect parents, looked for sources, couldn't find any, etc.

The more info you can put there, the more likely that someone won't just reattach without pursuing the truth - or at least we can hope.

Hi Patricia

You can't delete profiles but can 'detach'.

If they have a parent/s - go into their edit mode, where it says children click on the add/edit.  This takes you to the bottom of the page where you can choose by clicking on the person you wish to remove.

It may help if you provide a link to the profile that you'd like to detach, Patricia.

That has happened a couple times. Since we can't delete people I research and who they are.  Edit the profile with the correct information. So far all have been a dup's of another profile and I set up a merge to put it where it belongs.  It involves a lot of research at times but that is what we do.

So far all of mine have been messed up with conflicting data. I correct it.
